OWCP-trained clinical care for injured federal employees

Federal Workers' Comp Care

If you work for USPS, TSA, the VA, IRS, Bureau of Prisons, or any other federal agency, your workers' compensation claim runs through the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) — a system with its own rules, codes, and timelines. Our team is trained in both.

Overview

What is Federal Workers' Comp Care?

Federal employees injured on the job are covered under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA), administered by OWCP — not state workers' comp. The medical care, documentation, and billing requirements are distinct. VeriSpine Joint Centers provides OWCP-compliant non-surgical pain management and rehabilitation, with an administrative team trained specifically in OWCP forms, codes, and procedures. For program-level information on workers' compensation, see our Workers' Comp Program.

Conditions treated

  • Job-related back and spine injuries
  • Repetitive strain and occupational injuries
  • Acute traumatic injuries on duty

Why choose this treatment

The VeriSpine difference

01

OWCP-trained clinicians

Our physicians understand OWCP medical reporting standards — narrative reports, work capacity evaluations, and the documentation needed to keep your claim approved.

02

OWCP-trained administrative team

Our administrative staff is trained in OWCP-specific paperwork, billing codes, and treatment authorizations — reducing the technical errors that get claims delayed.

03

Non-surgical treatment focus

Most federal workers' comp claims resolve without surgery through targeted injections, physical therapy, and structured rehab — all OWCP-eligible.

04

Help with the FECA process

We support traumatic injury (CA-1) and occupational disease (CA-2) claim documentation and help with appeals on denied claims when there are merits.

What to expect

The treatment process

01

Claim and authorization review

We review your CA-1 or CA-2 status, accepted conditions, and any prior treatment authorizations before your first visit.

02

Authorized medical evaluation

A board-certified physician conducts your evaluation, documents findings to OWCP standards, and produces the narrative report your case manager needs.

03

Treatment authorization

We submit treatment authorizations through OWCP's system and follow up to ensure approvals are not delayed by technical errors or missing information.

04

Ongoing care and reporting

Treatment proceeds with regular work capacity updates and progress reports to OWCP — keeping your benefits, authorizations, and care aligned.

How is federal workers' comp different from state workers' comp?

Federal workers' comp (OWCP / FECA) covers federal employees and runs through the Department of Labor with its own rules and forms. State workers' comp covers most other employees and runs through the state board. The medical documentation, billing codes, and authorization processes are different.

Which federal employees are eligible?

Most civilian federal employees are eligible — USPS, TSA, VA, IRS, Bureau of Prisons, Customs and Border Protection, federal law enforcement, and most other federal agency employees. Military service members fall under different systems.

What if my OWCP claim was denied?

A denial is not always final. We can review your case for merits supporting an appeal and coordinate with OWCP attorneys when needed. Our staff is experienced with the appeal documentation OWCP requires.

How is this different from the Workers' Comp Program page?

The Workers' Comp Program page is our high-level information hub for both federal and state workers' compensation. This page focuses on the clinical service — what care we deliver, how OWCP claims work, and what to expect from federal workers' comp treatment at VeriSpine.
