Athlete Pain Treatment
Whether you are a high school competitor, weekend warrior, or career athlete, untreated joint and spine pain can shorten your season — and your career. Our specialists combine sports-aware diagnostics with the same regenerative and interventional therapies used by professional teams.

What is Athlete Pain Treatment?
Athletes push their bodies in ways that demand specialized care. At VeriSpine Joint Centers, our pain management physicians treat sports injuries, overuse syndromes, and the chronic joint and spine pain that comes from years of competition. The goal is not just symptom relief — it is restoring the function you need to perform.
Conditions treated
- Ligament sprains and overuse tendon injuries
- Sports-related back and neck pain
- Joint pain from repetitive impact
- Muscle strains and chronic myofascial pain
- Post-injury return-to-play decisions
- Pain that has not responded to ice, rest, and standard PT
The VeriSpine difference
Performance-focused care
Our specialists understand the difference between treating pain and restoring athletic function. The plan reflects that.
Regenerative options
PRP and stem cell therapy can accelerate tendon, ligament, and joint healing — often used by professional athletes for the same conditions.
Targeted procedures
Nerve blocks, joint injections, and radiofrequency ablation provide targeted relief without the systemic side effects of long-term anti-inflammatories.
Coordinated rehab
Sport-specific physical therapy and progressive loading get you back to training — not just out of pain at rest.
The treatment process
Sports-aware evaluation
Your physician reviews your sport, training load, mechanism of injury, and goals — then performs a focused exam and reviews any imaging.
Diagnostic precision
Where indicated, diagnostic injections or imaging-guided assessment confirm the exact pain generator before any treatment decision.
Combined treatment
Plans typically pair an interventional component (injection, RFA, or nerve block) with regenerative therapy and structured rehab.
Return to play
We progress you through graded return-to-sport milestones and clear you to compete only when biomechanics and tissue tolerance support it.
FAQs about Athlete Pain Treatment
Have a question not answered here? Our team is happy to help.
Book Free ConsultationDo you treat young athletes?
Yes. We treat high school and college athletes as well as masters-level competitors and recreational athletes. Treatment plans are tailored to the athlete's age, sport, and growth status.
Is PRP appropriate for athletes?
PRP is commonly used for tendon, ligament, and joint injuries in athletes. It works best for partial tendon injuries, early joint degeneration, and chronic overuse conditions that have not responded to standard care.
Will I need to stop training entirely?
Not always. Often we modify rather than stop activity — adjusting load, technique, or specific movements while treatment progresses. Complete rest is usually a last resort.
How is this different from a general sports medicine clinic?
We are an interventional pain and regenerative medicine practice. For pain that has not resolved with conservative care, our diagnostic injections and image-guided procedures can identify and treat pain sources that standard sports medicine cannot.
